Carteret St. UMC Seeks a Coordinator of Youth Ministries

Our congregation seeks a part-time coordinator, reporting to Pastor Bryson. This position has been open for some time, and we seek your help to find an outstanding person for this role! The coordinator is expected to be an active CSUMC member and is responsible for developing a program of spiritual youth opportunities for junior high school and senior high school aged youth.

Key responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Planning and executing appropriate, regular Sunday evening programs for Methodist Youth Fellowship
  • Managing fundraising and budget for youth activities
  • Integrating youth members into congregational programs, projects and worship
  • Accompanying youth to South Carolina Conference activities such as Revolution, Asbury Hill events and other programs

Requirements:

  • Youth ministry experience
  • Computer literacy and social media skills
  • Criminal background check

Carteret St. UMC Seeks a Part-time Coordinator of Children’s Ministries

Reporting to Senior Pastor Bryson Williams, this position requires 8 to 10 hours per week of preparation. The coordinator shall be a self-starter responsible for planning, coordination and implementation of the congregation's children’s ministry program (from birth through grade 5), in coordination with the Children's Council.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with a children’s sermon during worship as requested

  • Leading, planning, coordinating and executing Vacation Bible School

  • Organizing and arranging Sunday School activities

  • Maintaining nursery room supplies, keeping current lists of volunteers to staff nursery during worship and working with staff to maintain schedule

  • Contacting new families with children to invite and encourage participation in children’s ministry programs

  • Possessing basic computer skills and communicating adequately through email, and other communications channels about children's ministry activities

The primary purpose of children’s ministry is to foster a foundation of faith in Jesus Christ and service to others. The coordinator shall demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, a strong desire to serve in children's ministry, and learn and incorporate United Methodist principles in the children's program. A criminal background check is required, along with adherence to safety and privacy policies.
